Fair Haven Food Forest (2025)
This installation near the Quinnipiac River is truly a “no mow” backyard solution that will provide critical food and refuge for migrating birds, and eventually paw paws and elderberries for human consumption, too!
It includes a Paw Paw grove with companion plants like Serviceberry, Elderberry, Blueberry, Mountain Laurel— a micro clover play patch for a toddler— tons of native wildflowers, sedges, and grasses along the borders.
This is a great solution for a young family who wants to do the right thing for the environment and doesn’t want to be mowing, blowing, bagging on the weekends.
Side Note on Astro Turf: The prior owners had an entire up-cycled astro turf in the backyard! We reused a portion for parking and added a ton of organic matter to the planting areas.
